A professional flâneur, passionate learner and your regular neighbor. My journey spans continents and disciplines; and each experience has shaped my worldview in unique ways.
I was born and brought up in the cultural melting pot of Dubai (yes, that is true. Looking back I realised I grew up with kids from at least ten different nationalities). I moved to India (for which I'm deeply grateful to my folks) to complete my undergraduate degree at Madras Christian College, followed by a master's degree at Deakin University in Australia. Still eager to learn, I completed a post-graduate course in Journalism at the Press Club only to encounter NN Taleb's sobering quote: "To succeed in journalism requires an inability to think about matters that have even an infinitesimally small chance of being relevant next January."
Driven by curiosity about the world, I immerse myself in diverse realms from technology to music and everything in between. Not a voracious reader, but I manage to read a few books, articles and anything long form to broaden my perspective. I'm drawn to uncovering hidden gems across the internet, from thoughtful blogs to innovative content creators. My latest find is the right-wing American magazine, War Kitchen, that weaves together culinary, aesthetics, meat, fat, and the arts through compelling narratives.
My life's greatest adventures are shared with my wife, as we try to see a little bit of the world, always in awe at the richness of cultures and cuisines. I'm eager to lay my hands on diverse flavors and culinary traditions.
When I'm not doing either, you'll find me at the Club. Each session of lifting and moving heavy weights are simply an investment to get off the toilet bowl in my eighties!
I am learning to love and be content with the trivial things in life. A good game by Arsenal, the mutton that I have mastered over a year, a cold beer on the weekend or blissful sleep.
This space is more than just a profile, it is a daring attempt to find a tribe. This space is a living document where I jot what I learn, read, explore, and simply observe.
